I was at a cigar shop today and in the lounge there was a guy who was clearly bored and angling to start a conversation, but I just wasn't interested. Lots of guys go to these places to hang out and talk (and it's a great place to do that), but I really was just there to have a cigar and not freeze my ass off. We were the only two guys in there, so he had no one else to talk to. I actually kinda felt bad about it later, like I was ignoring another kid on the playground who was just trying to make friends.

Eh, sometimes you just want to be by yourself. I rarely talk to the hair dresser, and I generally don't make conversation with an airplane seatmate.

Most times people who try to talk to you when you don't want to talk to them are annoying and rude. This guy wasn't. He didn't push the issue. I think that's the only reason I feel bad.
